At Printivity, one of the special services we provide for our customers is the inclusion of UV coating on our products. But not many customers know what UVcoating is or how gloss UV coating can enhance their print marketing materials.

What is UV Coating?

The “UV” in UV Coating stands for ultraviolet. It is a liquid coating that is applied to a printed sheet then cured under an ultraviolet light. The bright, ultraviolet light makes the coating give off a glossier finish. UV Coating creates the desired smooth texture and look on paper products.

What is UV Coating going to do for me?

UV coating is a great way to enhance the look, texture, and quality of your printing project. For designs that are printed with a dense amount of color, it’s recommended to add UV coating. It will not only make the colors pop, UV coating printing will also protect the toner from chipping.

  • Lamination can be very thick and the expenses can make you go over budget. While adding UV coating is the most cost effective method to protect marketing brochures and postcards. The thin UV gloss coating doesn’t weigh down prints, which also makes it an ideal addition for mail campaigns.

Please keep in mind that UV coating can only be applied to cover stock. When adding this extra gloss coating to booklets, it will only be applied to the outside cover. If you would like double-sided UV coating on non-booklet products, be sure to tell your customer service representative or leave a note in the special instruction box when placing your order.
