Everyone wants to make more money for their business, don’t they?

One of the questions I receive a lot from small business owners is “is there any marketing method that I’m overlooking?”.

All small business owners want to make sure that they’re getting their business in front of as many people as possible in order to make as much money as possible.

If you own a small business, you’re no doubt familiar with SEO and blogging as part of your online marketing presence.

But what about the other forms of marketing you’ve not tried because of lack of time, money, or knowledge? What if there were a way for you to squeeze even more sales by using different forms of marketing?

Today, I’m going to show you some common marketing methods that you might have overlooked, in order to bring your business even more customers.

Method #1 Direct Mail

Direct mail, contrary to what you might read or think these days, is not extinct. In fact, the time is right for direct mail to be utilized by your company in order to reach your customers more directly.

Using a site like www.infousa.com, you can purchase a leads list to send your direct mail campaign out to in the form of brochures, color copies or postcards.

Since you can purchase your leads list, you can use this list to measure the effectiveness of your campaign. When you’re just starting out with your direct mail campaign, only send direct mail to your leads list, separate from your regular or existing customers.

That way, you can see if you get a surge in either or traffic or sales as a result of this new marketing venture.

One of the great things about direct mail marketing is its easy correlation with personalization. In fact, 70% of Americans say that direct mail is more personal than the internet.

Plus, you can even coordinate your printed direct mail collateral with your website, so that anyone who visits your site will be easily tracked by how they arrived at your site, whether by landing page or by specific website address.

Method #2 Google AdWords

Google AdWords is something that many businesses know about, but may not know how to utilize. AdWords is often overlooked because many people don’t realize how well it performs.

If you run a jewelry store called “Lisa’s Jewelry”, for example, your customers are typically searching for your business by name (i.e. “lisa’s jewelry”), while prospective customers might be searching for things based on location (i.e. “jewelry san diego”).

Getting those prospective customers to find your site is what it’s all about. That’s where Google AdWords comes in. For a detailed look at how Google AdWords works, check out this infographic from Pulp Media.

The most important statistic to take away from Google AdWords is this one:

Businesses make an average of $2 in revenue for every $1 they spend on AdWords.

So, if you’re not using Google AdWords, you’re missing out on a potentially huge source of revenue.

Whether it’s because of a lack of knowledge on how Google AdWords works, or not understanding the value of implementing an AdWords strategy, it’s easier than you think to glean significant value from it.

Method #3 Social Media Advertising

Although you’re probably already incorporating social media as part of your marketing methods, many people with small businesses haven’t yet embraced the idea of advertising on social media.

But according to this statistic, retail Facebook advertisers see a 152% ROI.

There’s money to be made on these social media platforms, but most small business owners might be overlooking these networks as a means to target more customers.

Although it costs money, just like with Google AdWords, you can make money at it if you’re doing it the right way. It may take some time to figure out what works best and what doesn’t, but it’s certainly something that should be looked into.

The three social networks with the highest possible ROI for advertising that I would recommend are:

Remember, give yourself some time to track these methods

I’m not advocating that you stop your other marketing/advertising methods altogether. I’m simply suggesting that these three methods shouldn’t be overlooked.

It can take time to really figure out a great way to make money through any of these methods.

But what you’re after is making as much money as possible.

Not overlooking common marketing methods that are going to bring in money is one way to ensure that you’re doing all you can to guarantee your business’ marketing success.
